Early on in my career on the Facebook Friending team, I conducted a content audit for the NUX (new user experience) across multiple platforms, including Android, FB Lite, different mobile browsers, and desktop. I didn’t audit iOS because its flow was pretty developed and got lots of TLC from the product team!
WHAT IS NUX?
The new user experience (NUX) is an additional onboarding flow that is served to a new user after they’ve successfully registered and have created their Facebook account.
Depending on your platform (ex. Android, mobile browser, desktop, etc.) you will be served a different experience, as my audit revealed. This could lead to users having drastically different experiences.
IMPACT
There were a lot of inconsistencies in the number of steps we showed users depending on the platform, the order of the steps, as well as inconsistent language used across the platforms.
I uploaded this 85-cell audit onto our internal audit library so that any content designer could access it. It also served as a kickoff point to start conversations with other Growth product teams to work XFN on some low-lift wins and content quality wins for consistency.
