Paid Subgroups Principles
THE PROBLEM
Paid Subgroups is a project that heavily relies on working cross-collaboratively with the Facebook App Monetization (FAM) product team.
There was misalignment across both teams on what we were building at a concept-level, and was blocking both design and engineering from building anything — which was putting our product timeline at risk.
My product manager wanted to share our team’s thinking and our long-term vision with the other team, so that we could align and unblock our teams.
WHAT I DID
Consulted with PM and PD to identify where we were are aligned/misaligned with our partner team, reviewed escalation documents that outlined core values from both sides, and then synthesized our team’s themes into product principles.
Presented these principles publicly to our core team, to our core partner team, and to stakeholders/product leads across both teams.
IMPACT
These principles served as the main point of discussion with our partner team’s product leads and other crucial stakeholders over four 30-min meetings.
We were able to align on these principles, which unblocked our teams and allowed our designers on both teams to resume working on wireframes for Paid Subgroups Beta.
